Evening of Excellence

Young Women in Excellence 2015
By: Alyssa Vandenberg
“We must develop the faith necessary to survive spiritually and to project a light for others. We must nurture our testimony until it becomes an anchor to our lives.” – President Monson
Young Women in Excellence is a night where the Young Women are honored for all the work they have done with the Personal Progress Program.  This year, the theme for ours was “Anchored in Christ”, and it was an awards show.  The decorations looked just like an awards show, and we all dressed up red carpet ready.

The hosts talked about each of the Young Women Values, and everyone walked down the red carpet with everyone else who did a project for that Value. Everyone also made a short video about what they did for their project, and then went up to give their acceptance speech.
Kirsten Davis was one of the hosts.

Mikayla was in the Faith category and made it there just in time, right before we were done with speeches!

We also had some Young Women share their talents with us during the program.

Skylie Doyle and Ellie Midgley sang “Gethsemane”, accompanied by Kryshelle Kindred on the piano.

Rylie Butterfield played “How Great Thou Art” on the piano.

Sydney Butterfield and Natasha Ellis sang “Beautiful for Me”

Finally, Bishop Jorgensen gave us some closing remarks.
It was a great night for everyone! Thanks to all the Young Women leaders who made it possible!
