Trunk or Treat 2015

October 30, 2015

Halloween's Origins
The word Halloween is derived from the term, "All Hallows Eve," which occurred on Oct. 31. "All Saints Day" or "All Hallows Day" was the next Day, Nov. 1st

Some say that the origins of Halloween can be traced back to ancient Ireland and Scotland around the time of Christ. On Oct. 31st, the Celts celebrated the day because it was when animal herders would move their animals into barns and pens and prepare to wait out the winter. This was also the time of the crop harvests.

It has been said that "there is a child in every one of us who is still a trick-or treater looking for a brightly-lit front porch." Thank you, Welby 7th Elder's Quorum and Ward Young Women, for providing a chance for neighborhood friends (kids both grown and small) to socialize with amazing people, eat yummy chili, play the fun carnival games and trunk-or-treat.  The symbolic porch light was lit because everyone in attendance left with candy, but most importantly spent the evening surrounded by smiles and laughter.

  2. That was such a fun night!!! I loved the cute carnival for the kids while parents finished eating! I remember last year I was so stressed out because you all know MY kids and they had taken off out to the parking lot, running around all crazy while Scott and I and my parents finished eating dinner. The carnival idea this year was awesome and my kids loved it!! Thankyou for for entertaining them while we ate and thankyou for planning a fun evening!!
