Why We Need Anchors
The
purpose of an anchor is to keep a ship safe and secure at a desired
location or to help control the ship during bad weather. However, to
accomplish these vital purposes, just having an anchor is not enough.
The anchor must be solid, dependable, and used properly at the right
time and place.
Individuals and families need anchors as well.
Adversity
can come as a great storm to blow us off course and threaten to cast us
against the rocks. But sometimes we are also in danger when everything
appears to be safe—the winds soft and the waters smooth. In fact, we can
be in the greatest danger when we are drifting and movement is so
slight that we scarcely notice it.
The Gospel Is Our Anchor!!!!
**********************************************A Summary of Camp.....by Constence Rasmussen
Girls camp was a very spiritual and fun place for all of us girls! There was laughter and tears. Wednesday when we got up at camp, we all worked very hard together to put up all the tents. After all of the tents were up, all of us girls went and ate lunch. Shortly after one small group of girls went horse back riding, which was a fun experience for all. The second day started with a nice breakfast, then the other group of girls went horse back riding. Later after lunch, we all took a small hike down to the lake where we had some very heroic leaders that saved some of the girls when their boats were moved by some powerful winds causing the boats to get stuck in some grass and moss. Shortly after all of us girls hiked back to camp, the bishop arrived. He ate dinner and played a really intense volleyball game with most of us girls. It was all of the young woman against the priesthood where it ended with the young women losing! When the young women lost, Constence and Rachel had to sing Frozen's "Let it Go" in front of everyone. After, everyone walked over to the fire pit where there were some very spiritual testimonies given. Early Friday morning after breakfast, another group of girls went horseback riding for the last time. Then, everyone packed up all of their stuff and we started on the journey home.
Other Camp Memories:
- Girls had fun in the game room.
- Girls enjoyed swimming in the pool.
- The "glow-in-the-dark" craft the girls attempted utterly failed.
- Also, the first volleyball game was ALSO lost (girls against Bro. Dean by himself), which is what led to the second game. The result of the first is that they had to refer to Bro. Dean as "honorable". That is why they wanted a rematch. It was best of three, and they got slayed every time.
- It poured like CRAZY the first day, right as sister Carrington was blowing up her monster air mattress.
- Skits were also fun. Girls had to use props and work in impossible words like "antidisestablishmentarianism" while rapping. And the young women totally pulled it off.
- McKenna and Adrianna had fun with knives. We thought somebody might get shanked, but we did all leave without blood being shed. Kate even tried to put on a hard face for the knife picture (see pictures below)
