Tailgate Party for Team RSU (Relief Society University)

We have a big “Season” coming up this year and here are some tips to help you have a successful season.
General Relief Society Conference. Saturday, Sept 28 at 6:00pm.

General Conference is held October 5th and 6th.

The women were challenged to pick one thing they wanted to change in their life that they heard in conference and to use the four steps to change to make it happen.

1. WAKE-UP to the imperfection that they do.
2. Have a REAL DESIRE and sincere heart to want to change.
3. OBEY every prompting from the spirit!
4. Give GRATITUDE to our Father in Heaven for the Savior and the Atonement.

Halloween
Remember to have fun!!

Thanksgiving
Different ideas to give thanks:
·         - One idea is you can light your candle at the table when you share what you’re thankful for.
·         - Going through ABC’s of all the things your thankful for.
Family Activities can be stressful with so many different personalities. Often we bring the wrong ingredients such as:

Attitude, Judgment, Criticism,
Opinion and Ego!

Instead bring something that would be appreciated by everyone;

Acceptance, Silence, Love,
Patience and Insight!

Christmas
A time for service! Some ideas were:
- Paying for someone's meal in the drive through.
-  - Shovel someone's driveway

FHE
- The silent karaoke was a very cute idea.

Freezer Dinners
Pam Crickmore shared a really good Chili that night. Here is that recipe and tips to remember. Thanks Pam!

Freezer Meal Ideas
Chili
Ingredients:
2 lbs. Ground Beef
1 large red onion
1 green bell pepper
2 cans pinto beans
1 can kidney beans
2 packages McCormick Chili Seasoning Mild
2 small or 1 large can diced tomato with garlic
10 oz. frozen corn
1 t. red pepper flakes
½ t. garlic powder

Finely dice pepper and onion and sauté in Tbs. oil until tender. Set aside and cook beef chopping up as you go and add garlic powder and salt to taste. When beef has just a little pink left, add sautéed veggies and the beans and tomatoes. Add red pepper flakes and let simmer for at least 15 minutes. Add corn 5 minutes before done to maintain the crunch;)

Tips
1.      Pinterest.com and allrecipes.com have a lot of freezer meal ideas (allrecipes.com have member ratings some with suggestions on making the recipe even better)
2.      Freeze your meals in baggies lying flat. It not only saves space, it helps for quicker and more even defrost!
3.      Putting your bags into Tupperware after helps prevent freezer burn.
4.      Always label so you know what you’re eating with the name and date; spaghetti sauce and chili can look very similar frozen!
5.      Buy same protein meals to make at the same time (ie: spaghetti sauce, chili, sloppy joes- all made with ground beef) because buying in bulk will save money!
6.      It doesn’t have to be a huge recipe kind of meal. I sauté onion, add beef, and then throw in a can of Manwich and freeze that. It turns into a 30 second heat up instead of a 15 minute preparation and is invaluable when the husband is alone with the kids;) Also will help save money from last minute eating out when you’re in a hurryJ
7.      Consider making “multipurpose” meals. Examples would be chili; chili dogs…or spaghetti sauce can be used for lasagna or ziti.
